Why we don't publish prices
Every made-to-measure blind is exactly that: made for one specific window. Two windows that look similar from the sofa can differ in width, drop, recess depth, fitting position and fabric — and each of those changes what the blind costs to make. A published price list would either mislead you with a best-case figure or scare you off with a worst-case one, and neither helps anybody.
So instead of guessing at averages, we measure your actual windows at a free home visit and quote for exactly what you need, with fitting included. The number you get is real, itemised for your home, and carries no obligation whatsoever. The rest of this guide explains what feeds into it.
Window size and shape
The biggest single factor is the obvious one: bigger windows need more fabric, longer headrails and heavier-duty mechanisms. A wide patio door span costs more to cover than a cloakroom window, whatever the product.
Shape and situation matter too. Bay windows are quoted as several blinds with angled joins to plan. Roof windows need purpose-made skylight blinds built for the exact window model. Very tall stairwell windows can involve extra fitting work. None of this is a reason to dread the quote — smaller and standard windows sit at the friendlier end for the same reasons — but it's why "how much is a blind?" has no single answer.
Fabric grade and finish
Within any one blind type, fabric choice moves the price. Performance fabrics cost more to produce than standard ones, so:
- Blackout fabrics — with their opaque backing — sit above ordinary dimout weaves.
- Splash-proof and wipeable fabrics for kitchens and bathrooms carry treatments that standard fabrics don't.
- Flame-retardant fabrics, often specified for commercial premises, are another step in production.
- Designer patterns and textured weaves can price differently from simple plains.
The good news is that this is the factor you control most directly. At the consultation you'll see fabrics across the range with honest guidance on where spending more genuinely buys you something — and where it doesn't.
The product ladder: from rollers to shutters
Different products involve different amounts of material and manufacturing, and they stack up in a fairly consistent ladder:

The ladder isn't a quality ranking — a roller in the right fabric is the correct choice for many rooms, not the compromise choice. It's simply how manufacturing effort translates into price, and it's why mixing products around the house is often the smartest way to spend.
How many windows? Whole-house orders work harder
Blinds are quoted per window, but the economics of a visit aren't. Measuring, quoting, one manufacturing run and one fitting appointment spread across eight windows works more efficiently than the same process repeated for one window at a time — and that efficiency is reflected when we price a whole house or several rooms together.

The honest maths against "cheap" online blinds
A budget blind from a website looks cheaper on the screen than a quoted made-to-measure blind. But follow the costs to the end of the job:
- You do the measuring — and if the sizes are wrong, a made-to-measure blind can't be returned. One mis-measured window can wipe out the saving on the whole order. Our measuring guide shows how easily it happens.
- You do the fitting — which means brackets, the right fixings for your walls, tools, a level, and an afternoon per room, multiplied by however many windows.
- Nobody stands behind the job. A fabric fault, a jamming mechanism or a wonky fit becomes a customer-service ticket, not a fitter coming back to sort it.

How the quote and payment actually work
The process is deliberately simple:

- Your quote — a clear price for your actual windows, with measuring and fitting included. Take your time with it; it isn't a pressure exercise.
- Ordering — a 50% deposit puts your blinds into manufacture. Most blinds are ready in around two to three weeks; shutters take two to four.
- Fitting and balance — our fitters install everything, show you it working, and the remaining balance is settled on completion. Cash, debit or credit card, or bank transfer all suit us fine.

Why won't you tell me a price over the phone?
Because we'd have to guess, and a guess helps nobody. The price of a made-to-measure blind depends on the exact size of your window, the fitting position, the product and the fabric grade — none of which we can see down a phone line. The free home visit exists so we can measure properly and give you a real, itemised, no-obligation figure instead of a rough one that later changes.
Is the home consultation and quote genuinely free?
Yes, completely. We come to your home anywhere within about twenty miles of Mansfield, bring fabric samples, measure every window you're considering and leave you with a written quote. Is made-to-measure really worth it over ready-made blinds?
For most windows, yes. Ready-made blinds come in fixed sizes that rarely match a real recess, so you either cut them down or live with gaps and overhangs. Made-to-measure blinds are manufactured to your window's exact dimensions and fitted properly, which shows in both looks and light control. Once you factor in your time, tools and the risk of mistakes, the difference in true cost narrows considerably.
Do you charge extra for fitting?
No — fitting by our own fitters is included in the quoted price, along with the measuring. The figure you agree is the figure for the finished job: blinds made, installed, demonstrated and covered by our 12-month guarantee. We'd rather quote one honest all-in number than a tempting headline price with the real costs added afterwards.
How does payment work when I order?
You pay a 50% deposit when you place the order, which puts your blinds into manufacture, and the balance when fitting is complete and you're happy everything works. We take cash, debit and credit cards, and bank transfer. Typical lead time is around two to three weeks for blinds and two to four weeks for shutters, and we'll confirm dates when you order.
